Base Plan of a Trebuchet

This schematic representation of the base plan of a medieval catapult, known as a counterweight trebuchet suggests that Villard had more than a passing interest and familiarity with siege equipment of the day.
The plan has recently been fully researched and used for the basis of a reconstruction by Artefacts, a Gloucestershire-based historical research, reconstruction and educational company and then subsequently filmed by WGBH (Boston) for PBS's NOVA television series Secrets of Lost Empires: "Medieval Siege".
