About Golden Key
Membership Qualifications
Your outstanding academic achievement has placed you among a very select group of students who qualify for membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society. Golden Key is an internationally recognized academic honor society dedicated to excellence.
Membership is by invitation only to those students who are in the top 15 percent of their junior and senior class. Full-time students as well as part-time students qualify, and members include the traditional and nontraditional students.

Society Mission
The goals of the Society are to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both scholarships, and to promote scholastic achievement through voluntary service.

Career Assistance
Golden Key members are distinguished across the globe for their academic excellence. Recognizing these talents, many corporations seek to recruit Society members for career positions, as well as co-ops and internships. The Career Assistance Reference is a listing of more than 500 such companies including our corporate sponsors AT&T, GIS, KPMG Peat Marwick, General Mills, Merck, Ford Motor Co., Motorola, and Aetna. All 500 companies seek to recruit and hire Golden Key members.

Scholarships
More than one million dollars have been awarded in scholarships to Golden Key members. Two scholarships are awarded to the outstanding junior and senior initiates. As a new member, you will be eligible. Simply return the completed member profile/scholarship application and the lifetime fee by the membership deadline.
Golden Key also awards eleven $10,000 graduate scholarships annually to members who are recognized as "Golden Key Scholars."
The local UW-Whitewater chapter also gives scholarships each year to reward the most active members of our chapter.

National Discounts
Members not only receive recognition and assistance, they also receive tangible benefits as well. Golden Key International and some of it's partners are rewarding the excellence of it's members with national discounts for things like hotels, insurance, and newspapers.

Leadership
Golden Key chapters are student-run and involve students who share your same aspirations for high achievement. You can gain valuable leadership experience by becoming a chapter officer, or you can attain skills and build friendships by participating in socials and service activities. All Golden Key activity is voluntary. As a lifetime member, you are always invited to attend the Society's annual convention and regional conferences for additional personal development.

Publications
Golden Key is proud of its national award winning magazine, CONCEPTS, which highlights the achievements and activities of Society members. This benefit is available to you annually, and you are encouraged to submit articles for this publication. Additionally, you will receive Key Notes, Golden Key's newsletter, once you become a member.

Recognition
Once you have joined Golden Key, you are always a member. You will be recognized for your scholastic achievement with the presentation of a personalized certificate at your chapter's reception. Your guests are cordially invited, and top university administrators, faculty, and community leaders will also be in attendance.
If you would like an emblem of your scholastic achievement and Golden Key membership, the Society offers official Golden Key pins, charms, medallions, and honor cords on an optional basis.

Membership Fee
Golden Key is proud to return 75 percent of each membership fee as benefits and services to the local chapter and its members. Benefits include chapter funding, induction ceremonies, publications, scholarships, certificates, chapter consulting, and the international convention.

"I view Golden Key as vitally important to our university, for it promotes participation and quality performance. As important as it is to recognize a student's intellectual pursuits is the fact that Golden Key also gives back to the community."

Dr. John DiBiaggio

Tufts University

"Golden Key students are a cut above other students. Not only are they high achievers in the classroom, they are actively involved outside the classroom, most often in leadership roles. As a result, General Mills seeks to hire Golden Key students who bring a broad perspective to the workplace as they transition from their academic studies."

William A. Dittmore
