2008 WCTE Annual Meeting

October 3, 2008, 4:00 p.m.

 

 

President JoAnne Katzmarek called the meeting to order and congratulated Emily Ihrke on the success of her convention. 

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Carol Conway-Gerhardt moved, Karen Kelley seconded, and the board approved the budget.  Tom Scott recommended we consider increasing the membership dues. John Zbikowski moved, Lynn Aprill seconded the organization establish a fiscal year running from February 1 through January 31. 

 

Old/New Business:

Nominating Committee Report:  John Zbikowski recommended the following change in our by-law, it was seconded, and the board unanimously approved the change.

 

Change Article II, Section 2, to read:

“The Nominating Committee shall encourage candidates for second vice president from diverse backgrounds and levels of instructions.”

 

Resolution proposed by Tom Scott, seconded by John Zbikowski and passed unanimously by the board:

 

Resolved: 

            Whereas Jo Anne Katzmarek has provided a steady hand guiding this organization through a year of outreach to new members, cooperation with the Department of Public Instruction, and sustained, detailed pursuit of its mission, always with graciousness and optimism,

            Be it resolved that this Council commends JoAnne Katzmarek for her dedicated and effective leadership, and

            Be it further resolved that JoAnne Katzmarek receives the Council’s heartfelt thanks and best wishes as she becomes Director-at-Large.

 

JoAnne then turned the imaginary gavel over to Emily.

 

Tom Scott then went on to reiterate the preliminary findings of his strategic/long range committee and reminded the board of the October 30th joint meeting of the convention planning committee and his committee.

 

Trista Dauk asked for photos and reports from the convention to be sent to her for the Update at her new email address:  tdauk@netnet.net

 

John Zbikowski announced he will be sending e-ballots for our upcoming election.

 

Tom Scott moved and Penny Parsons seconded a motion to adjourn and President Emily Ihrke adjourned the meeting at 4:40.
